The comic format of the zine predominantly uses illustration and minimal dialogue as ADHD brains are prone to difficulties in taking in and processing information, and have an imaginative, visual manner of thinking. The comic aesthetic creates a visually stimulating guide. Relatable scenarios such as over-sleeping lectures and forgetting identification for a club night, are deployed throughout to develop a personable connection with the audience.
Miss Diagnosed aims to provide undiagnosed women who may previously have no awareness of ADHD as a disorder, or an explanation or solution for their behaviour, the necessary knowledge to send them in the right direction towards receiving a diagnosis. Treatment is necessary for ADHD, so symptoms can start to be treated and managed; Miss Diagnosed is a push for these women to reach out for this support.
